Organic Pots
In our search for better root systems, year round planting, lower production costs, and sustainable methods we have developed a potting system for speciman trees and shrubs that is like no other. A large 75-100 gal. plastic pot costs over $100.00 and tree roots circle inside it within a few months of planting. A Organic Pot the same size costs less than $15.00, uses no plastic, root prunes itself, and is recyclable. We have test trees 25' tall growing normally in Organic Pots and finished trees at job sites planted with 100% no-stress. As a result of our 4 years of testing we're converting all our field grown trees to Organic Pot trees in their last year of growing, so that our customers get the best trees with the best root systems possible. We're currently testing growing vegetables in Organic pots for use in places where food could be grown with no soil, on rooftops, in deserts, or anywhere. See our pictures and order the best organic trees in the world. If you want to grow in Organic pots we'll ship you pallets of our US made Pots in 50'x18" for $50.00 per roll . Takes 7 ft. to make a 40" pot.
Root Washing
Prior to planting in a Organic Pots we wash all the original soil off the ball. to inspect for  incorrect roots and rid ourselves of Grubs, Borers, FireAnts, and soil contaminations like pesticides or fertilizers. Just as importantly the bare root washing of speciman trees ( developed by Dr. Bonnie Appleton of Va. Tech) enables the trees roots to be (watered in) to the new soil locking it's fine feeder roots to the new soil mix, eliminating air pockets and preventing wind blowover problems.
Speciman Jane Magnolias in 48"x 18" pots sitting on 4.5 landscape mat squares which we wrap the ball with when we ship the pot. We install either a metal basket or Muletape lifting loops to give multiple ways to lift or slide the pot on the pad or in the hole. The tree can grow indefinetly this way, extending the sales and planting season to year round. The wood and wire basket lasts 2-3 years, is organic, sustainable, air rootpruning and low cost. We recomend top dressing with compost tea, compost, or water soluble fertilizer like Espoma Tree Tone every 6 weeks during the growing season. We remove the basket and reuse it prior to shipping. To repot just add a bigger basket with fresh mix without disturbing the tree ball. Fast growing species like Willow, Cherry, Bald Cypress,Sycamore, Sweet Gum will need to have a 12.5 oz. mat or solid tarp material underneath if left to grow more than a year as they will root right through a lighter weight mat. We're trying soil mix combinations to lower the mix cost and add soil with micro-nutrients and good micro-organisms to the sterile mix.

Jesse Heard moves the now washed and pruned root ball to a fabric 8'x8' square
that has a cone shaped pile of mix placed on it. The ball is wiggled off the forks onto the pile of mix , the organic pot basket is wrapped around the root ball and backfilled with mix washed in with a water hose as you fill the basket. This settles the mix, eliminates air pockets and locks the mix around all the roots so tightly that we rarely have to stake the tree. This guarantees plenty of soil moisture and immediate uptake of water and nutrients by the root system. Typically we get a flush of leaf buds within 10 days or so as the tree quickly adapts to the new mix.
